G’day Church,
This Sunday we look on as Jesus is anointed with perfume in an act of worship that he described as preparation for his burial. We sit with his disciples as Jesus shares the Passover meal and declares that the bread and wine are his body and blood – broken for us and poured out for our forgiveness. We marvel that though his closest friends fell asleep and then ran away at the hour of his greatest need, Jesus continued unwaveringly towards the cross. This is the Son of God doing as he taught: loving his Father with his whole heart and mind and soul and strength, loving his neighbour – even you and me – even more than himself. And as we slow down to read big chunks of this together, we can only grow in our love for Jesus. And as we love him, so we love to invite others to know him too.
- Taste and See has been a great encouragement. As I write this, we’re preparing for our final session tonight. Please pray that God would draw people to himself!
- This Easter we hold out a simple invitation: Meet Jesus! On Good Friday we meet our Humble Servant and reflect on the profound significance of the cross, with the children heading out for a special edition of Trinity Kids. On Easter Sunday we meet our Risen Lord, with an all-ages all-in celebration.
- Following Easter, we can invite our friends to consider whether the love, justice, freedom and hope that Jesus offers are both desirable and real. We’ll be digging into some of the big questions and objections that are often raised, convinced that Jesus is indeed Good and True.
- And as a great invitation for any youth you know, Summit Camp will be on the first weekend of the school holidays (April 12-14) down the coast at Yankalilla. This is an absolute highlight of the Trinity Youth calendar for teens from Trinity Church Brighton, Colonel Light Gardens, Tonsley, Unley and Woodcroft. More info and rego here.
