Hi Everyone,
For those who’ve been around church more than a couple of months, I’m sure, like me, you’ve been greatly encouraged to see a steady stream of new faces coming through our doors and calling us home. Church has had a great buzz, especially the last few weeks.
I thought I’d therefore take the chance to thank all of the people who have been serving in so many ways to help our church gatherings be such encouraging times. From our hosts who welcome so well, our coffee cart and hospitality teams, our bands and AV people, through to those who do stuff up front, those who setup and packup our venue, and our wonderful and fast growing Trinity Kids teams; we’ve got so many who serve us so well! Thankyou!
Over the past couple of months especially there’s been lots of areas where people have jumped in to fill gaps or to help out in areas they normally wouldn’t. We saw this a lot through COVID, and we’re still seeing it – people’s wonderful flexibility and servant heartedness. The big example of this is Trinity Kids, where we’ve grown incredibly fast over the past few months and have had to do lots of scrambling to keep being able to run such great kids programs every week. We’ve got a number of new people volunteering to come onto kids teams as helpers or leaders which we’re very thankful for, although there is still great need in this area. If you think you could commit to leading or helping in one of our kids teams once a month, we’d love to chat more (it’s lots of fun, and no experience required)! There are plenty of other areas where we have needs too, perhaps you could be on a setup team once a month or join one of our hosting teams?
The great truth of serving in church and ministering to one another is that not only is it a great help and a great way to help make church happen, it also is a way in which we grow, not to mention a wonderful privlidge to be working in God’s kingdom. (See, for example, Ephesians 4:15-16, 1 Corinthians 3:9)
Now, before I finish a couple of other things to note:
- For those who serve regularly at church, I want to give you a heads up that we’re making a couple of changes to the logistics of how rostering works, heading into our new roster which starts in March. There’s not going to be anything too different, essentially we’re going to be using a new tool to collect the dates when you’re unavailable to serve, and to then put the rosters together. I’ll be sending you another email today with all the details, but be assured it won’t make things any trickier or more complex for you!
- This Sunday Simon Marshman is taking some leave so won’t be around. John Warner from Bush Church Aid will be joining us and preaching. (For those who are newer, John’s also the person who originally planted Trinity Church Brighton back in 2006!)
- For those who missed it on Sunday, we’ve put a beach picnic in the calendar. Feb 26, from 4:30-7pm at Wattle Avenue Reserve. It’s a bring your own anything, come whenever you like, leave whenever you like, very relaxed kind of afternoon!
Thanks again – it’s a privlidge serving alongside you all!
See you Sunday,
Matt
