Dear friends
As you are probably aware, our Annual General Meeting is coming up on 30 August, starting at approximately 1130am, so I thought I should give you some information about our leadership and how it all works.
THE LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE (in brief)
The ministry of Trinity Church Brighton is overseen by the Church Leadership Team [C.L.T.], a group appointed from members of our church. This group potentially consists of the Senior Pastor plus six others: two elected by the congregation, two appointed by the Senior Pastor, and two appointed by the team itself. Each position is for two years. After two years the members step down from the roles, but are eligible to be renominated and then reappointed by the congregation.
Presently, the team consists of Mike Hern, Paul Wight, Abbey James, Peter Edwards, and, Cameron Munro. Peter and Paul has completed their terms. Peter has decided to step down but Paul is willing to be renominated.
At the Annual General meeting we will seek one person to be appointed by the congregation. Another will be appointed by the Pastor to join the Church Leadership Team. The CLT has the option to appoint two additional people to join its ranks.
WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?
Any person 18 years of age or older who is a member of the Trinity Church Brighton can be nominated for appointment to CLT.
WHAT DEFINES A MEMBER OF TRINITY BAY CHURCH?
For the purposes of standardising our procedures with respect to voting in the congregational meeting we ask any person voting in the congregational meeting, or nominated for office, for a signed declaration [made at that time] that they:
- are baptised Christians;
- are 16 years of age or older;
- regard themselves to be members of Trinity Church Brighton, regularly sharing in fellowship and ministry [and not regularly sharing in ministry and fellowship of any other church];
- and, that they accept the doctrinal statement of Trinity Church Brighton[The 39 Articles of Religion].
In essence, these are the criteria for ‘membership’ at Trinity Church Brighton.
HOW DO YOU NOMINATE SOMEONE?
You will need to prayerfully consider who you wish to nominate.
Then approach them and get their consent.
You will also need a member of the church to be the seconder.
You can notify us of the nomination by using the online form by clicking HERE.
We will then contact the nominee and ask for their assent to the Doctrinal Statement.
MORE DETAILS NEEDED?
I have attached a document that details the responsibilities of the Leadership Team.
I have also attached a copy of the 39 Articles, our statement of doctrine to which members of the leadership team are required to assent.
