Hi Everyone,
I’m looking forward to being together again this Sunday as, after 11 weeks, we reach the end of Jesus’ sermon on the mount. I hope you’ve found it as encouraging as I have to study these words deeply and to reflect on what it looks like to live a life of genuine faith as part of Jesus’ kingdom. This Sunday we finish with three final illustrations which sum things up and challenge us to consider where we stand.
My mind is also heavily into Easter this week. I’m looking forward to our two Easter services where on Good Friday we’ll take a reflective journey through the story of Jesus cruxifixion and on Resurrection Sunday we’ll consider the meaning of Easter in a fun all-age format. Both services will be great opportunities to invite someone along. Both start at 10am and go for a little over an hour so they’ll be perfect for inviting someone to lunch afterwards as well.
Following Easter, I’m looking forward to having Pastor Matt Lehmann join us to preach for five weeks from the book of 1 Thessalonians. We’ll benefit from his insights, but it’ll also be a great help to have him preaching during this time with Simon away on long service leave.
With Matt Lehmann’s upcoming visit in mind, I thought I’d also let you know that Matt has recently resigned from his role as Senior Pastor of Trinity Church Tonsley and as the Lead Pastor of our region of the Trinity Network. Matt will be continuing in that role until the middle of the year and is looking forward to being with us for this series, but as you can imagine, this is a big thing for Matt and his family as well as Trinity Church Tonsley. If you’d like to hear a bit more about his decision, do head over to Trinity Church Tonsley’s website where they’ve provided some helpful information. Even in this brief note, I do want to highlight that Matt’s resignation is not because of any failure, sin, or relational breakdown, but mostly coming out of some changes in the future plans of the church and some changes to what Matt wants to be doing going forward. Do pray for him and his family as they consider what might come next!
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday,
Matt
