G’day Church,
We’re spending five weeks reflecting on what it means to be Church On Purpose. This week we reflect on God’s good purpose of us serving together in ministry – each of us playing a part in the work that God is doing in and through us. I don’t think anything could sum this up better than the morning we will share the following week though, on Sunday November 10 when we baptise a bunch of our young adults. It will be a tremendous morning of seeing the real-life impact of the good news of Jesus, the joy of being part of his family, the fruit of faithful gospel ministry in various ways over many years, the delight in hearing from young men and women who long to grow more like Jesus, and celebrating the glory of God in all of this. We’re expecting a lot of people at church so plan to arrive before 9:45, both to welcome visitors and to help us get ready to start on time. We’ll finish up a bit earlier than usual and skip morning tea chats in the gym to head to the beach straight after church. Parking can be found on the side streets around Wattle Reserve (https://maps.app.goo.gl/UuviUPUq3RRuSYZ66) and we’ll meet on the sand in front of the reserve. After the baptisms we’ll head back up to the grass for a BYO picnic lunch as we relish the goodness of God bringing us together as his people. This will be an excellent day to invite friends and family who are interested to get a taste for what it means to be part of Jesus’ church!
On a related note, I’m hearing lots of great feedback from people reading Unmissable Church. It’s a great read that is grounded in the Bible and full of practical insights and suggestions. We’ve still got a few copies available and I’d love everyone at church to read it and keep reflecting together on the things we’re learning together.
Please pray that God would continue to glorify himself as he draws us together as his children, grows us to be more like his Son, teaches us to serve others like he has served us, and fills us with the joy of taking the good news of Jesus to the world who so desperately needs to hear it.
In him,
Simon
