Pastor’s Letter – October 20

Hi All,

We had a great time beginning our Church on Purpose series last Sunday. We asked the question, “what’s the point of church?”, and looked forward to God’s ultimate plan for his people, gathered around the throne and worshipping Jesus for all eternity. We anticipate that future as we gather together each Sunday, worshipping Jesus and seeing more and more of him in the here and now.

This Sunday we’ll think about why it’s important to be together as a church, why it’s important to be a community and to belong. We can be so thankful for God’s gift of a church community to belong to, and this Sunday will be a chance to think purposefully about why God brings us together.

In a few weeks time on November 10 we’re going to have another opportunity to celebrate our belonging to the people of God as we baptise a number of our young adults at the beach after church. Baptism is a wonderful sign that points us to what Jesus has done in his death and resurrection, and a sign that celebrates our membership in the body of Christ. It’ll be a great morning, we’ll have church together, head to the beach for the baptisms, and there’ll be an opportunity to enjoy lunch together as well..
