Pastor’s Letter – October 6

Hello Church,

How is your week going? From Monday to Saturday we’re at work, at uni, in community groups, in family gatherings, meeting people at school pickup – all sorts of places. So let’s keep thinking how our time together on Sunday connects with and shapes the rest of the week. This Sunday will be a particularly good chance to do that, with Craig Broman from ENGAGE Work Faith visiting.

Then next Sunday (Oct 13), we start a topical series called “Church On Purpose”. Associated with this, we’ve made a bulk purchase of a great book called ‘Unmissable Church’. We’ve got enough for 1 copy per household, and at the bargain price of only $5 each, which is a fraction of their retail value. They’ll be available for pickup this Sunday and I’d love all our members to read this book and use the related Church on Purpose study guides that we’ve prepared to reflect on God’s great purposes for church (you can pick one up on Sunday, or download the pdf here). To help us cover costs while avoiding the administrative challenges of handling cash, please use one of the electronic giving methods here to make a one-off contribution for the cost of the book. We’re also working on a project make this book available on audio – we’ll keep you posted!

Finally, please remember that Daylight Savings Time kicks in on Saturday night, so make sure you get to church on time. Visitors and newcomers are almost always early, so if we are also early we can be there to welcome them well!

See you on Sunday,

Simon
