G’day church,
Do you want to live a life totally transformed by the good news of Jesus? I know I do! Every time I see more of who he is (like we did in Mark’s Gospel last term) I find myself even more captivated by him. And every time I ponder the wonder of his grace to us (as we will do in Romans this term) I have an overwhelming urge to reflect that reality in my life. I hope you want to live a life transformed by the good news of Jesus too – because that’s what we should expect to happen as the gospel takes root in our lives.
So with that in mind, I really can’t give a strong enough encouragement to get along to Adelaide Men’s Convention (May 13) and Grace Conference for women (May 27). I’m sure the blokes reading this share my desire to be a man of solid, reliable, gospel integrity and I’m really looking forward to hearing from three of Adelaide’s best preachers on the topic. And the women will be so richly encouraged with Wendy Lin opening up the short but meaty books of 2 and 3 John. But time is running out to register:
Men – hit reply and let me know you want to come and I’ll add you to our group booking to make the most of the discounted group registration.
Women – early bird rego expires tomorrow so don’t waste any time and click here now to register. And then send me a quick email if you’d like to join the group of Trinity Brighton women for lunch after the conference.
Finally, as we dig into Romans here are a couple of suggestions for how we can make the most of this time in one of the most stretching books of the Bible:
– Start reading ahead. Just kick off with chapter 1 this week and then a chapter a week and you’ll be keeping ahead of the sermons and giving time for the richness of God’s word to percolate deep into your soul.
– Grab the study notes from the welcome table or the website here. These are great for Growth Groups, but also a helpful space for sermon notes and prompt for personal reflection.
– Pray! Ask God to shed light on the corners of our lives that need to be transformed by his grace, and beg him to blow our minds with the wonder of his kindness in Jesus so that we’d have a deep longing to be made more like our wonderful saviour.
– Come. Put Sunday morning church and mid-week Growth Group in your diary before anything else. We can expect God to do amazing things amongst us because he always does when his Spirit plants his word deep in us – for the glory of his Son!
See you on Sunday,
Simon
